Yahoo! Mail Sucks
Ok, I give up! This blog is for now officially for tech bashing.
My gripe today... Yahoo!
What makes companies so big and mighty that they think you shouldn't be able to contact them, even when its clear they've messed up?
I pay them for a premium Yahoo! mail account which gives me a couple of email addresses, plus lets me download mail from other providers (you know all the stuff gmail gives you for free) but more importantly all those forwarding address that come into my account, I can reply and it appears from the address that I was emailed to.
So, I wanted to set up a new outgoing address today, so I can reply using a different address than my @yahoo.com address... but alas, their server hangs, in fact, Internet explorer tells me that their server doesn't even exist... this happens every time, no matter what I try.
Whats worse is I click on "Help" and all i can find is "Ask this question on Yahoo! answers" or stupid answers like, "make sure you're connected to the internet." - yeah because some other user is going to know why i can't add a second premium email address.
Well too bad, if I haven't got it fixed by the time i have to renew my subscription, that, as they say, is that.
UPDATE: now I get this right after login...

arrrrgh, yahoo is maddening that way. I think i have been on the phone with them a few times in the past as well, I can't remember if they helped or not (probably not because it was some stupid unanswerable question my ex-boss made me call for)
while we are griping about yahoo, I despise the Beta mail and refuse to use it. it is teh sucky.
I liked the beta mail until about 2 weeks ago, now it randomly stops working and just pops up a "Yahoo! Mail is taking longer than expected".
If I had a blackberry I dont think i would ever even try and login to yahoo.
GMail will let you do everything you like doing on Yahoo, including choosing the email address you appear to send from.
Read this post by me, how you can cheat Yahoo to get it for free:
http://www.knowliz.com/2008/07/cheat-yahoo-to-get-pop3-access-for-free.html
Also if you use Zimbra Desktop, you don't have to even cheat and pay for premium service:

Hope that helps and you don't hate Yahoo that much.

unfortunatly everyone and his chihuahua has my old email address. I'm too much of a chicken to change it.

That might be useful to give a clean chit to Yahoo.

no offence, but it doesn't seem like you even read my post, I'm not trying to find an alternative to yahoo, I'm wondering why you can't contact them when their service is down.
I appreciate your opinion, but to me it just seems like you're trying to bump up the visitors to your site based on "remotely" similar topics.
on GMX.. seems ok, but It's going to take a lot to get me to switch, back in the 90's I was burnt pretty bad when net@address decided to cancel their free service, Yahoo! was and still is a good choice. Its just a shame that these big companies get a little too big for their boots and feel that they can avoid customer service.
