Yahoo! Mail Sucks

Comments

Did they also tell you to "try restarting you computer"? How stupid.

arrrrgh, yahoo is maddening that way. I think i have been on the phone with them a few times in the past as well, I can't remember if they helped or not (probably not because it was some stupid unanswerable question my ex-boss made me call for)

while we are griping about yahoo, I despise the Beta mail and refuse to use it. it is teh sucky.

[this is good]

I liked the beta mail until about 2 weeks ago, now it randomly stops working and just pops up a "Yahoo! Mail is taking longer than expected".

If I had a blackberry I dont think i would ever even try and login to yahoo.

I love when internet-based help systems tell me to make sure I'm connected to the internet. Also try: make sure you have a computer, and make sure your eyelids are parted.

GMail will let you do everything you like doing on Yahoo, including choosing the email address you appear to send from.
BTW, You don't have to even pay Yahoo for premium account just because you want to download mails to your Desktop client.
Read this post by me, how you can cheat Yahoo to get it for free:
http://www.knowliz.com/2008/07/cheat-yahoo-to-get-pop3-access-for-free.html
Also if you use Zimbra Desktop, you don't have to even cheat and pay for premium service:

Hope that helps and you don't hate Yahoo that much.

One of the things I've grown to hate about the ever-growing presence of online only businesses is that the age of "pick up a phone and get answers" is drawing to a close. The closest thing you find to that now is one of the "live chat with customer service" features, which would be great if they didn't rush through a script and close the chat as soon as possible.
Actually I'm not trying to download mail, I use the web client alot and prefer to not have everything come from @yahoo.com especially replying to people that have emailed me at non-yahoo domains... looks kinda unprofessional replying with a @yahoo account.

unfortunatly everyone and his chihuahua has my old email address. I'm too much of a chicken to change it.

Even then if you prefer using web client, then I thing GMX or Zoho is your best bet. Check out these two posts on the same:

http://www.knowliz.com/2008/07/neither-yahoo-nor-live-gmx-mail-is-wise.html

That might be useful to give a clean chit to Yahoo.

no offence, but it doesn't seem like you even read my post, I'm not trying to find an alternative to yahoo, I'm wondering why you can't contact them when their service is down.

I appreciate your opinion, but to me it just seems like you're trying to bump up the visitors to your site based on "remotely" similar topics.

on GMX.. seems ok, but It's going to take a lot to get me to switch, back in the 90's I was burnt pretty bad when net@address decided to cancel their free service, Yahoo! was and still is a good choice. Its just a shame that these big companies get a little too big for their boots and feel that they can avoid customer service.
